The Center of Agricultural Sciences of the Federal University of Paraíba, former School of Agronomy in the Northeast, has two Postgraduate Programs in Zootechnics: at the master's level, the Postgraduate Program in Zootechnics (PPGZ) and, at the doctorate, the Integrated Doctoral Program in Animal Science (PDIZ), developed jointly with the Federal University of Ceará.
The Programs' mission is to qualify teachers, researchers and professionals specialized in the area of ''Zootechnics, with a commitment to solving problems related to Brazilian livestock, especially in the Northeast, through science and technology activities aimed at improving the quality of life for men of the field and the sustainability of the environment that is inserted, starting its activities for the master's degree in 1978 and, for the doctorate, in 1990.
Currently, the Program is consolidated, having been recognized by CAPES as reference programs in northeastern Brazil and receiving concepts 5 in the last evaluation.
The doctors and masters trained in our programs act as teachers, researchers, and/or technicians from educational, research, extension, and private companies.
In addition to being currently characterized as a traditional training center of human resources in the area of ''Zootechnics in the Northeast, the teaching staff and students have stood out for the high level of their academic production of journals of national and international impact.
At the Doctorate level, the course lasts for a minimum of 24 months and a maximum of 42 months, with a minimum of 48 credits obtained in disciplines.
